Learn to sew whilst making a lovely Applique cushion.  As the Royal wedding takes place today you will have the option of making a Union Jack Cushion! You will learn to sew straight and use a seam allowance.  How to use different stitches on your sewing machine and what they are for.  How to applique your design or words onto your cushion  using design templates & bondaweb.  How to construct an envelope backed cushion.   All materials, design templates & cushion pad and refreshments  are included in this workshop.  Fabrics available may vary from picture shown.

Make this super useful Artisan Apron.   This is a great introduction to dressmaking for beginners.    * Requirements – You will need  between  1.25 to  1.5 metres of your chosen fabric  (depending on fabric width & your measurements) plus matching thread.  Soft  Linen can be difficult to work with so we would suggest a slightly more ‘stable’ fabric with less movement ie Cotton.  Please bring a packed lunch, Tea & biscuits provided by us.

Whilst learning to make this pretty  patchwork pouch you  will cover lots of different techniques.  You will  learn some basic patchwork and quilting,  how to insert a zip and make boxed bottoms.  Your pouch will be lined quilted with  wadding.   You will then go on to decorate your pouch with decorative stitches and embellishments.  All materials are included.

This workshop  is a great introduction to Patchwork and Quilting.  You will make a sewing machine cover which doubles as a mat with pockets to hold all your sewing equipment whilst you sew.  Useful & fabulous to look at!  You will learn to piece together your Patchwork squares to make pockets which are at the front and back of your cover/mat (great for storing the foot pedal and power lead).  You will  ‘sandwich’ your pockets and main fabric with batting and lining and then go on to quilt the layers together. You will learn how to make your own binding.  Finally you can decorate your cover/mat with an  applique pin cushion heart or a design of your choice.  If you are feeling brave you could even try a little Free motion sewing – we have names for all our sewing machines!  You must be confident with a sewing machine for this workshop.  Please bring along a packed lunch.  We will provide the Tea & Sweet treats.  Requirements:  1 metre of fabric for the  front & back (this can also be used for some of the patchwork squares and binding) however if you want a contrast binding you will need one Fat quarter in a contrasting colour.  You can chose your patchwork squares from a selection of fabrics at the shop or feel free to bring along your own scraps.  Everything else is supplied by us.

This class is ideal for beginners who are interested in learning the basics of weaving on a lap loom.   The class will cover how to warp up a small lap or table loom including how to get the tension right. You will learn how to make tassels to give your wall hanging a simple fringe finish. It will cover various weaving techniques which Abby will talk you through step by step throughout the lesson. You will be encouraged to experiment with colours and textures using a selection of yarns and materials to create your piece. You will then be shown how to take your weave off the loom and get it ready to hang using a piece of doweling which will give your wall hanging a perfect finish.

All materials will be provided and you will get to go home with one small but wonderful weave ready to hang on your wall.  Tutor:  Abby Monroe

Make a professional piped cushion.  You will learn how to cut fabric on the bias and join together to cover your piping. You will also learn how to insert a zip.  Some previous sewing experience is essential for this workshop.  Requirements:  Half a metre of your chosen fabric.  If you would like contrast piping then you will need at least  a quarter of a metre or a fat quarter of fabric.  Everything else, including the cushion pad is provided for this workshop.  We have fabric for you to purchase at the shop should you prefer, please let us know when booking.

Learn how to do Free motion sewing.  You will be appliqueing a design of your choice onto fabric using bondaweb which you can then chose to make into a cushion or picture.   You will learn the wonderful art of free motion sewing which is drawing & writing with your sewing machine –  beware it is totally addictive!  Keep your design simple if you are new to free motion sewing or more detailed if you have some experience.   Stuck for choice? Spend the day at Annies Attic making one of these delightful Tilda Angels in time for Christmas.   Your fabric fairy will be machine sewn then stuffed.  We will  then go on to sew the clothing and decorative details along with needlfelting her hair into a hairstyle of your chosing.  Lots of different techniques are used in this workshop and it is packed full of invaluable tips to make it easy for you to go on and make more of these gorgeous Tilda dolls.  This is an intermediate workshop – you must have some machine and hand sewing experience to be able to attend.  This would make a fabulous Christmas addition to your Christmas decorations or a lovely  gift for someone special.  All materials are included in this workshop.  Please bring along a packed lunch.

Make this patchwork table runner in time for Christmas – although it can be used all year round!.   This workshop is a great introduction to Patchwork & Quilting.  You will use a rotary cutter & cutting mat.  Learn all about  machine piecing, quilting and binding – in fact all you need to go on to larger patchwork and quilting projects! Batting (wadding) is provided by us along with light refreshments.  Please bring along a packed lunch.

Requirements:  For a simple two coloured checker effect you will need:
1/2 metre of light fabric (110cm X 50cm) or 2 light coloured FQ’s
1/2 metre of dark fabric (110cm X 50cm) or 2 dark coloured FQ’s
1.3 metre for your  backing fabric and binding. (can use 1 metre but the backing will have a join if your fabric is 110cm wide.
The finished size of your table runner will be approximately 120cm X 35cm.
