Make a professional piped cushion. The finished size of the cushion will be 40 cm square. You will learn how to make your own piping and how to insert a zip. Some previous sewing experience is essential for this workshop. Requirements: Half a metre of your chosen fabric. If you would like contrast piping then you will need to bring along at least a quarter of a metre or a fat quarter of fabric. The zip & piping will be provided for this workshop. We have fabric for you to purchase on the day, but please do let us know when booking. Featured fabrics are customers own. This sewing roll not only looks good but is really practical. It has little pockets for your threads & scissors, an integrated pin cushion and separate zipped section to keeps your bits & bobs secure. The whole case will be finished with a bound edge & ribbon tie that can be used to secure your sewing roll while travelling. With the linen fabric as the base colour you will be able to chose your own contrast fabrics & embellishments on the day. You are welcome to bring any of your own favourite fabrics, ribbons etc. Please bring along a packed lunch. Refreshments provided by us. Learn to sew whilst making a lovely Applique cushion. You will learn to sew straight and use a seam allowance. How to use different stitches on your sewing machine and what they are for. How to applique your design or words onto your cushion using design templates & bondaweb. How to construct an envelope backed cushion or for more experienced sewers you can insert a zip. All materials, design templates, cushion pad and refreshments are included in this workshop. Fabric availability may vary from picture shown. Make this large Oil cloth bag fabulous as a weekender or beach bag. Learn lots of tips on how to sew with oilcloth. You will need some sewing experience to attend this workshop. This bag will have a secure zip at the top for extra security plus additional pockets in the lining & a secure key tab. You will need to provide 1/2 metre of oilcloth fabric and 1/2 metre of contrast lining fabric.

Have you got a new sewing machine or maybe you’ve had one for ages but are too scared to use it? Or are you thinking of buying a new machine but would like to try one of ours first? This is the workshop for you! You will learn how to thread a sewing machine, wind a bobbin, how to sew straight using a seam allowance, plus sew a button hole and use a zipper foot. We will take you through various stitches, dials and different sewing feet. If bringing your own machine please make sure it is in full working order and don’t forget to bring along your power lead, foot peddle and instruction booklet if you have one. This workshop is being held in our Westerham sewing studio near Westerham heights garden centre. (5 minutes drive from our old shop – full directions will be given on booking).

Quilt in a day! This workshop is a great intro to making a Patchwork Quilt. You will learn all the techniques from start to finish – piecing together your fabrics, sandwiching, quilting and finally binding. The Quilt is approximately one metre square when finished. Requirements: One Charm park (minimum 42 x 5″ squares) one metre of backing fabric, one metre of Batting/wadding and matching thread. Everything is available to buy at the shop with a 10% discount on the day. (Unfortunately the featured charm pack is no longer available). Spaces are limited so you will get plenty of attention. Please bring along a packed lunch.

Learn to sew whilst making one of these gorgeous doorstops. This is one of our most popular workshops. You will learn how to sew straight, applique and embellish your doorstop and learn how to sew a boxed bottom! All materials are included in this workshop.

Whilst learning to make this pretty patchwork pouch you will cover lots of different techniques. You will learn some basic patchwork and quilting, how to insert a zip and make boxed bottoms. Your pouch will be lined quilted with wadding. You will then go on to decorate your pouch with decorative stitches and embellishments. All materials are included.

Summer sewing – Learn to sew whilst making some lovely summer bunting! This will look fantastic indoors or outside in the garden or it can be used for a special occasions. You can chose to personalize it with applique letters or a design of your choice and finish by embellishing with some of our ribbons & buttons.

Learn how to make professional curtains. You will make one machine sewn sample curtain with a pencil pleat tape heading. You will then go on to make another sample curtain handsewn with a pinch pleat heading and weighted mitred corners. We will go through how to measure your windows and discuss various fitting techniques. These samples will act as reminders for when you go on to make your own curtains. One metre of soft furnishing fabric is required preferably a cotton/linen mix (nothing too shiny or silky) everything else is provided. Please bring along a packed lunch as we have no shops near the studio. Tea & cake provided by us!

Make this Vintage style patchwork bag. You will learn lots of useful techniques such as quilt as you go patchwork. Your bag will be fully lined. You will be able to add some decorative details by hand sewing from a choice of our fripperies. All materials are included but please feel free to bring along any of your favorite fabric scraps. You may also want to bring a packed lunch.
