Learn how to make a professional Roman blind.  You will make a fully lined sample roman blind mounted onto a corded wooden baton.  Please bring along a piece of fabric (minimum 60 cm wide by 75cm drop) or you are welcome to purchase the fabric from us on the day. Everything else is provided.  You must be able to use a sewing machine and sew straight or have attended  one of our Learn to sew workshops.  Refreshments are provided by us but you may want to bring along a sandwich.

Make a professional piped cushion.  You will learn how to cut fabric on the bias and join together to cover your piping. You will also learn how to insert a zip.  Some previous sewing experience is essential for this workshop.  Requirements:  Half a metre of your chosen fabric.  If you would like contrast piping then you will need at least  a quarter of a metre or a fat quarter of fabric.  Everything else, including the cushion pad is provided for this workshop.  We have fabric for you to purchase at the shop should you prefer, please let us know when booking.

Learn to Weave £55
This class is ideal for beginners who are interested in learning the basics of weaving on a lap loom.   The class will cover how to warp up a small lap or table loom including how to get the tension right. You will learn how to make tassels to give your wall hanging a simple fringe finish. It will cover various weaving techniques which Abby will talk you through step by step throughout the lesson. You will be encouraged to experiment with colours and textures using a selection of yarns and materials to create your piece. You will then be shown how to take your weave off the loom and get it ready to hang using a piece of doweling which will give your wall hanging a perfect finish.

All materials will be provided and you will get to go home with one small but wonderful weave ready to hang on your wall.  Tutor:  Abby Monroe

Make a fabulous  drum lampshade for your home.  Your shade will be 40 cm in diameter and can be made into pendant shade  or popped onto a lamp stand.  *You will need 1/2 metre of fabric to co ordinate with your interior (not too thick) or you are welcome to buy fabric from us on the day just let us know when you book.  Everything else will be provided by us  including  refreshments.

Free motion sewing £45

Free motion sewing  £45

Learn how to do Free motion sewing.  You will be appliqueing a design of your choice onto fabric using bondaweb which you can then chose to make into a cushion or picture.   You will learn the wonderful art of free motion sewing which is drawing & writing with your sewing machine –  beware it is totally addictive!  Keep your design simple if you are new to free motion sewing or more detailed if you have some experience.   Stuck for choice? We have plenty of ideas for you to chose from here at the shop.  All materials are included in the price but feel to bring along any favourite fabric scraps.  Refreshments & biscuits are provided but you may want to bring along a packed lunch.

Have you got a new sewing machine or maybe you’ve had one for ages but are too scared to use it? Or are you thinking of buying a new machine but would like to try one of ours first?  This is the workshop for you!  You will learn how to thread a sewing machine, wind a bobbin, how to sew straight  using a seam allowance, plus sew a button hole and use a zipper foot.   We will take you through various stitches, dials and different sewing feet.  If bringing your own machine please make sure it is in full working order and don’t forget to bring along your  power lead, foot peddle and instruction booklet  if you have one.

Fabulous workshop where you will chose from a selection of Mini Makes which will make lovely gifts for family or friends in time for Christmas.  You will create at least  four or five makes  during the course of the workshop.   You can chose from a varied selection of makes which include a Lavender heart,  Pin cushion,  Needle case, Tissue holder,  fabric Tray tidy, Phone or glasses case or a pyramid coin purse.  You will learn lots of different techniques that are all fun and quick to make. Requirements:  You will need to bring  3 or 4 Fat quarters in various contrasting colours.  We have fabric at the shop should you wish to purchase from us.  Please bring along a packed lunch.

Make this patchwork table runner in time for Christmas – although it can be used all year round!.   This workshop is a great introduction to Patchwork & Quilting.  You will use a rotary cutter & cutting mat.  Learn all about  machine piecing, quilting and binding – in fact all you need to go on to larger patchwork and quilting projects! Batting (wadding) is provided by us along with light refreshments.  Please bring along a packed lunch.

Requirements:  For a simple two coloured checker effect you will need:
1/2 metre of light fabric (110cm X 50cm) or 2 light coloured FQ’s
1/2 metre of dark fabric (110cm X 50cm) or 2 dark coloured FQ’s
1 metre for your  backing fabric and binding.
The finished size of your table runner will be approximately 120cm X 35cm.
